4. Applications

The MnO₂ reference electrode can be used for:

  • Cathodic protection systems
  • Corrosion monitoring systems
  • Electrochemical measurement systems
  • Long-term potential monitoring
  • Reinforced concrete corrosion monitoring
  • Pipeline corrosion monitoring
  • Storage tank monitoring
  • Marine and offshore structures
  • Underground metallic structures
  • Other applications requiring a stable reference potential

5. Solid-State Design

The electrode uses solid-state MnO₂ rather than a conventional liquid electrolyte.

This design helps reduce maintenance requirements and makes the electrode suitable for long-term installation in monitoring systems where access for maintenance or electrolyte replacement is limited.

6. Stable Reference Potential

The electrode provides a reference potential of:

+165 ±10 mV at 25°C vs SHE

with a specified potential stability of:

±5 mV

The stable reference potential allows the electrode to be used as a reference point for monitoring changes in the electrochemical potential of the protected or monitored structure.

7. Long-Term Operation

The MnO₂ Reference Electrode is designed for long-term operation under the specified conditions.

With an operating temperature range of -20°C to +80°C and an operating pH range of 10–14, it can be used in a variety of demanding monitoring environments.

The specified service life is:

≥30 years
